From Clocking In to Cashing In: My Passive Income Journey

In today's fast-paced world, many of us, myself included, find ourselves trading time for money in traditional jobs. We clock in, work our set hours, and receive a paycheck at the end of the week. But what if there was a way to change that dynamic? What if we could create income streams that continue to generate money even when we're not actively working? That's the path I'm actively pursuing, focusing on building clientless income through passive and semi-passive means.

One of the tools I'm using to achieve this goal is this very blog, Lila Kibby: An AI-Driven Hobbyist and Entrepreneur. While, at the time of this writing, this blog is not yet a digital asset—there are no ads, affiliate links, or downloadable products that could generate income—it holds the potential to become one. By adding elements like affiliate links, I can transform this blog into a source of passive income.

Affiliate marketing is a way of earning money by promoting products or services from other companies. When readers click on these affiliate links and make a purchase, I earn a commission. The beauty of affiliate marketing is that once the links are in place, they can continue to generate income without additional effort. This makes it a prime example of passive income—money that comes in without ongoing active work.

I also want to note that when I add affiliate links, it is normally for a product that I use and have found value in, and I want to share that with others. I may also share links to products and services that I do not use but believe others may find more useful than the ones I am currently using.

But this blog isn't the only passive income stream I'm working on. I'm also venturing into writing and publishing non-fiction books online. Like the blog, these books represent potential digital assets. Once written and published, they can continue to sell and generate income over time, allowing me to create a clientless income stream that doesn't rely on trading hours for dollars.

With that being said, I want to clarify that I'm not against making money in a traditional way. However, this time around, I don't want to punch in and out of a clock. I want the freedom to work from wherever I choose. If someone sees art I create and wants to pay me to make something for them, I will. That is a client. If someone reads a blog post or a social media post and would like to hire me to do that same task for them, I would. That is a client. The difference is that these opportunities arise in fields and niches that I am passionate about, and they are not time (as in set hours) or location restrictive.

This too is part of my goal. I'm not against having clients; it's just that I want to have time and location freedom while earning my income. My journey is about transitioning from traditional income sources to those that offer more freedom and flexibility. However, I also recognize the importance of maintaining a traditional job during this transition period. I need to pay for my living expenses, courses, and other business resources that will enable me to make this transition successfully. It’s not just about having a dream and quitting—it's about making a thoughtful, strategic transition.

By focusing my time and effort on building Passive Income Digital Assets, I'm working towards a future where my income isn't tied to how many hours I work but is instead driven by the value of the assets I've created. Whether it's through this blog, affiliate marketing, commissioned artwork, or published books, I'm committed to reshaping how I earn money and creating a sustainable, clientless income.
